ArcelorMittal Slows Production at Steelton

ArcelorMittal has laid off an additional 85 workers at its Steelton facility as it reduces melt-shop operations to a single-shift schedule. The company had previously laid off 27 employees with less than two years of service at the plant. The decisions were made to align ArcelorMittal Steelton employment levels with market demand, the company claims.

ArcelorMittal’s Steelton facility, located near Harrisburg, Pa., produces flat bars, ingots, specialty blooms and rail products. It primarily serves the forging and railroad industries.
