Zekelman Acquires American Tube

Zekelman Industries, Chicago, has expanded its operation again with the acquisition of American Tube Manufacturing, Birmingham, Ala. The company will be operated by Zekelman’s Atlas Tube division.

“American Tube is a perfect complement to our Atlas Tube division and will enable Zekelman Industries to provide improved customer service and an enhanced structural tube product offering to customers in the Southeast,” says Tom Muth, president of the structural tube product divisions for Zekelman Industries.

American Tube, founded in 1994, produces square and rectangular tubing, pipe products and round tubes. It operates 150,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

“We are thrilled to become part of Zekelman Industries. Zekelman’s history of operational excellence and support will expand our ability to better service our customers,” says Rucker Durkee of American Tube.

In other news, Zekelman completed the previously announced acquisition of Western Tube & Conduit. Western Tube serves the electrical, fence and mechanical tube markets in the western half of the United States.
