Material Handling, Cutting Equipment

Bystronic Introduces
Compact Material Handling System
Bystronic, Hauppauge, N.Y., has introduced ByTrans, a new, compact material handling system it claims to yield greater profits through higher machine utilization, expanded operations and reduced labor costs. With ByTrans, user operations can be expanded up to three shifts.

Loading and unloading takes just 60 seconds so the system is always faster than the shortest cutting plan. The short cycle time, which is independent of the thickness of the metal sheet, ensures greater overall throughput. ByTrans offers complete accessibility and optimum operation in a small, 15- by 10-foot inline footprint and handles all sheet thickness up to one-inch plate. ByTrans easily integrates into any ByVision controlled machine.

Magnet Handle Mechanism
Prevents Early Drops
Industrial Magnetics, Boyne City, Mich., has introduced a new handle on its PowerLift Rare Earth lift magnet with a positive lock-on, lock-off mechanism. The new mechanism requires the operator to manually switch between the two states, preventing the handle from being turned only “partially on” and giving the operator a false sense of security that the magnet is holding safely. It also keeps the handle from being bumped to the off position, dropping the load prematurely.

The handle’s locking mechanism is engaged by first pulling out on the handle to release the lock pin, than rotating the handle to the “on” position. Turning the magnet off requires the same steps in the reverse direction.

PowerLift Rare Earth Lift Magnets are compact, lightweight permanent magnets that have on/off functionality, but require no electricity—reducing operating costs and eliminating the fear of dropping the load being lifted during a power failure. They can be used on flat or round non-flexing surfaces and contain an internal release device that does not contact or damage the surface of the material being lifted.

Self-Powered Vacuum Lifter Immune to Outages
A new, upgraded mechanical vacuum lifter for handling ferrous and non-ferrous sheet and plate without requiring external power has been introduced by Anver Corp., Hudson, Mass.

Anver’s Mechanical Vacuum Lifter is self-powered and eliminates the need for electric or pneumatic power, making it totally immune to power outages.  Featuring a mechanism that creates a powerful suction through the action of the lifter being lowered onto the load by a hoist, it can be operated virtually anywhere and incorporates a new 36-inch long ergonomic safety handle.

The self-contained vacuum lifter is ideally suited for handling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and polished stone from the top without hooks, grabs, or magnets.  Available in capacities from 500 to 18,000 pounds, it features all-welded steel construction and a wide selection of vacuum cups.

Cincinnati CL-850 Cuts Thick, Thin Material
Cincinnati Inc., Cincinnati, Ohio, offers the CL-850 laser-cutting center, which cuts both thick and thin material with a powerful 5000W GE Fanuc laser resonator, advanced cutting head, innovative optics and third-generation linear-motor-drive system. Designed for high throughput, all-around material versatility and cutting precision, the CL-850 delivers 1,000 ipm cutting on 18-gauge steel, and up to 1-1/8-inch processing on mild steel, the company claims.

The CL-850 is available in 5-foot by 10-foot and 6-foot by 12-foot cutting table models, each featuring dual quick-change pallets. Pallets move simultaneously, so changes take just seconds and cutting is virtually continuous.
